Cooperativas Agro-alimentarias de Andalucía presented AGRICORE Project in the Tierra Cooperativa magazine. In the magazine the goals of the project were highlighted as well as their role in the project, Cooperativas Agro-alimentarias de Andalucía is one of the ten entities that will work to improve the design of Agricultural  policies in the next four years. The AGRICORE project proposes a novel tool to improve the current capacity to evaluate and develop policies related to agriculture based on the latest advances in modeling and ICT. In the framework of their work, Cooperativas Agro-alimentarias de Andalucía will make a practical application of the generated tool, in order to evaluate measure 11 of the Plan of Rural Development on Organic Farming, which includes the instruments to promote new ecological farms, as well as to maintain the farms already certified beforehand. More specifically, through the project, the environmental and climatic impact that the measure is having on the olive sector will be analyzed in the period between 2014 and 2020.
For this, the tool proposed by AGRICORE will use the information collected by national databases (such as SIGPAC) and European (Lucas or FADN, among others), as well as regional and municipal sources. Likewise, a participatory research will be carried out between public organizations, farmers and cooperatives. The evaluation of these data will be made from three biophysical models. On the one hand, the dynamic growth model for the olive tree will be used, aimed at calculating production indicators and quantifying the environmental impacts generated. On the other, models for measuring climatic factors, such as HIRMAM. Finally, soil models, such as the European Eurosem system, through which erosion is measured, will be considered.
